Our Fear of Flying program is a comprehensive and personalized approach designed to help individuals overcome their anxiety about flying. The program begins with intensive counselling using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and hypnotherapy, both tailored to address each participant's unique fears. ACT helps individuals accept their anxieties and commit to actions that reduce their impact, while hypnotherapy uses guided relaxation to ease anxiety and build confidence. This therapeutic phase continues for as long as necessary, ensuring that every participant feels fully prepared to take the next steps.
After completing the therapy sessions, participants visit Avia Aviation located at Moorabbin Airport, for an immersive, hands-on experience. This includes a pre-flight walk around with experienced pilots, including a retired 747 Cathay Pacific captain, who explain the rigorous checks and safety measures involved in preparing an aircraft for flight. Participants then enter a flight simulator to experience various in-flight scenarios and address specific fears like turbulence or engine failure in a controlled environment. The program culminates with an optional flight experience in a Cirrus aircraft, which is equipped with a parachute system for additional safety, allowing participants to apply their newfound confidence and skills in a real-world setting.
