Supporting your child’s emotional world early can make a lifelong difference. At Peninsula Wellness & Therapy, Beck offers gentle, developmentally appropriate therapy for children aged 6 and above - helping them understand their feelings, build confidence, and navigate challenges in a safe and supportive space.
Children don’t always have the words to explain what’s happening inside, but their bodies and behaviours often tell the story. Beck’s approach integrates somatic (body-based) therapy with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), supporting children to tune into their internal experiences while learning practical, empowering ways to respond.
Through somatic techniques, your child learns to notice physical sensations linked to emotions - like tight tummies, racing hearts, or restless energy - and develop skills to calm and regulate their nervous system. Alongside this, ACT-based strategies gently introduce children to understanding their thoughts and feelings without becoming overwhelmed by them. Your child will begin to build flexibility in how they respond, rather than feeling stuck or reactive.
Therapy focuses on strengthening emotional regulation, reducing anxiety, and building everyday coping skills your child can use at school, at home, and in social situations. There is also a strong emphasis on self-esteem - helping your child develop a sense of confidence, self-trust, and belief in their ability to handle challenges.
Beck works collaboratively with parents and caregivers, offering guidance and practical tools to support your child outside of sessions. This creates consistency, deepens connection, and helps you feel more confident responding to your child’s emotional needs.
Therapy isn’t about “fixing” your child - it’s about helping them feel safe in their body, make sense of their inner world, and build the skills they need to thrive.
